Open Letter to All Visitors

Monday January 16, 2006

Dear Visitor:

I have been struggling to write this since I posted this. For the most part I have been trying hard to avoid anything to do with international politics. This is because I do believe in the sovereign rights of nations. I also do not want to cause more bad feelings than there already are between nations.

Mexico, and likely other nations, have to accept a good deal of the blame for the illegal immigration problem in the United States. First, their are few economic opportunities for their citizens. This is due to taxes and tariffs in most cases. However, it is also caused by another one of the massive problems that such countries have: corruption. Many of these countries have closed legal systems with little or no oversight or review (including in some cases lack of appellate courts). This leads to problems in developing economic opportunities as well as persecution and lack of freedom.

Before these governments continue to cause problems for us by complaining about our (in many cases poor and stupid) efforts to protect our country and enforce our laws, maybe they should clean up their own problems. Modernize their tax codes, lower taxes, and move toward a more free trade system. Also, they must stop corruption in the courts and in all legal processes.

Finally, Mexico kindly helped out Louisiana and such during the hurricane disaster of 2005. They do good at helping other countries. However, on speaking to many Mexican citizens, it appears that they do very little to help their own citizens, except those who are illegally in the USA or attempting to enter illegally. This needs to stop. They must provide relief to their own people during disasters.

Sincerely, Trever Adams
