Dear Visitor:
Last Saturday I went to the movies with my dad and brother (sister's husband). We went and saw Eragon. We were sorely disappointed. It was obvious that either the book was horrible or that the movie didn't do it justice. My mother had purchased a copy of the book. I sat down and read it yesterday and today. The movie has almost NOTHING to do with the book. The overall story arc is there, but most of what the movie didn't cut, was warped, changed and twisted. Things were out of order, important details changed or left out, and a major part of the story just wasn't even hinted at.
The movie, like the book, did do a few things right. The language was largely clean. The romance between Arya and Eragon was clean and not overly sexed up. Her clothes, were largely modest. So, thank the directors for that.
Overall, if you don't like movies that have been screwed up (from the book) or if you have read or might read the book, the movie is probably to be avoided. The acting isn't the best. The book has a much better story, with all the right details.
I really hate to say this as I think the author is great (after having read only the first in the series). I know if you don't see it, he will likely not get as much money. However, the movie really did stink in my opinion. Hopefully, if they do Eldest, they will do it right. Get Peter Jackson or someone similar, make the movie at least 2 and a half hours, and really tell the story. Try to stay true to it!
Happy New Year.
Sincerely, Trever Adams
