All joking aside people, this is a really serious matter. Sex is a gun that is ALWAYS loaded. With condoms or without, with spermicidal jelly or without, with a "safe" partner or without, things are going to happen. You run the risk of (if you are a girl) getting pregnant or (if you are a guy) impregnating the girl. There are worse risks as well: AIDS, VD, etc. Just as with a gun, there is only one true safety. That safety is not to load the gun in the first place. If you have sex, the gun is loaded!

Just like with guns, instead of outlawing sex, we all should be responsible owners/shooters. Have sex out of love, not lust. Try to avoid having a baby through any means, including abstinence, until you can support a child emotionally, spiritually, and financially. If a baby does come along, please, do not murder the innocent child; put it up for adoption. Let someone who can and will care for it, give it the love it needs.

Yes, I did say murder! There are a few things that we humans say defines life and gives identity. These are very complex, yet so simple. I will touch on identity first.

Legal Identity: The United States government ascertains one's identity through one of four ways. DNA, which a fetus has before the first cell division. Finger prints, which a fetus has at X months.Retinal prints, which a fetus has at X months. In the future brain waves may be used to uniquely identify people. A fetus has these at X months. As you can see, the child, if alive, is an identifiable human being, an individual, very early on! So, is it alive?

Life: The definition of life usually runs something like the following: "Life is defined by the ability to consume or assimilate material for energy, the necessity of assimilating that material and the energy derived, and the chemical processes through which motion, multiplying, and assimilating energy consume or use the energy derived." One might break this down and say: Does it breath or use oxygen? Does it require food/nourishment? Does it resemble its own kind? Does it have the potential to create more of its own kind? All of these questions and definitions define a baby alive from the first combination of the spermatozoa and the egg. The fetus is living. Many humans don't consider it murder unless the living thing has a high degree of self awareness and sentience. Many also require that it be aware of its environment, not just itself! So, is it sentient?

Sentience: With all the studies that show the baby is affected and aware of its environment long before it is born, I, myself, have to conclude that the fetus is sentient from very early on. Studies have shown playing music for and talking to the baby, before birth, increase its chances of being well adjusted in life. They also help increase the ability and possibility of the baby's brain. If the baby were not sentient, I do not believe this would be possible.

My Stand: The case of rape and medical problems aside, when you lay in that bed... when you spread your legs, that was your choice! Just like shooting someone, you cannot go back and erase the choice. You must do your best to live with it and to make the best of it. I am 100% pro-choice. You can choose to open your legs and take ALL possible consequences like an adult... like a real, feeling, thinking human... or you can keep your legs shut and not have to worry about it. Sorry, those are the ONLY true choices you have. The other options are murderous and evil.
