Child of The 1980's

Just from the list alone, you will realize that I am easily a child of the 80's. Many of my moods, beliefs and perceptions were based on things that happened in the 80's and on TV/Movie content. Hopefully, you will find this page entertaining and useful. Nostalgia is nice, but many take it too far. Often we remember the past as being better than it was, or we want to live the past again. Both of these will lead to malcontent. Please make tomorrow a better yesterday, as best you can, by bringing the best forward and accepting new good.

I believe I was 3 or 4 years old before we had our first color TV. In fact, this could be considered our first TV, because we never really watched this old black and white we had. The first things I saw on TV were Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Secret of Nimh. Needless to say, I didn't enjoy it. In fact, I still do not like horror or too strong of suspense... for various involved reasons.

Soon my dad introduced us to Saturday Morning Cartoons. We liked The Road Runner. It has confused me over the years as my dad tried to keep us from watching cartoons after this. Heck, he introduced us, so why shouldn't we watch them?!? Eventually, I realized it was because many of us were spending too much time in front of the box. I was the worst I am sure.

Soon after my introduction to cartoons, my family started watching Friday Night TV together. Our favorites were Disney's Zorro and Knight Rider. Needless to say, I was hooked on TV by this point. I loved the heroes and the stories. I still love both of these shows.

I do not remember all the shows I have liked over the years. The list above is more or less in order I was introduced to ones that I still like to watch. I am not much of a fan of Renegade or Quantum Leap, anymore, but I still like to see them from time to time.

Other shows I liked were Man and Machine, Six Million Dollar Man, the female counterpart show for Six Million Dollar Man and many many others. If you have links for pages for these, please let me know. I will gladly link to them.

I really do not understand how so many people liked and now hate ReBoot, The Gummi Bears, The Bots Master, Thunder Cats, Zorro, Knight Rider, Perry Mason, MacGyver, Quantum Leap, Mantis, Viper, Highlander, Renegade, Babylon 5, Sliders, Earth Final Conflict, Star Gate: SG1, and The Invisible Man. I can understand why some may not like those shows, but to be honest, it really disgusts me how people love their soap operas and their porn more than good shows like these!

I really believe heroes can and do exist. I hope some of the shows on this page inspire people to be true, simple heroes. Don't try to be a MacGyver, but do try to help people the best you can. Be a hero to a child and be a hero for eternity!

Let me just say, thank heavens for some ABC channels for carrying The Pretender. Thank you late night Disney for Zorro. Thank you WGN for Knight Rider and MacGyver!

Do not freak out or anything. This page is to discuss things I like to watch when I have time and feel like it. In reality I tend to only watch a maximum of 2 hours of TV a day. This is far less than most people I know. Yes, I do hope to provide information about these shows and convince you to watch them instead of the trash out there.
